MSN Search Update
MSN announced they are upgrading relevancy and coverage. The increased coverage likely means that more inbound link sources are getting indexed. From looking at rankings of a few of my sites it looks like:
anchor text got A LOT more weighting
many lower authority links that were not passing weight (due to not being in their index) are passing weight. For some competitive core industry related phrases (not SEO, another industry) I see a site that went from #150 to top 5 based on the anchor text of lots of low authority links.fresh links are still heavily trusted, but sites with older links but few fresh links now rank a bit better than they used to in the older MSN, likely due to the more comprehensive index coverage. for as much as Google has beat down some directory links, MSN just gave them a lot of love.MSN is still screwing up some navigational queries. For example, my homepage does not rank for seobook. Though I have already seen them fix some of these issues.Internal anchor text still counts, but it might seem slightly demoted, as a side effect of more competing pages and more links getting indexed.MSN mentioned that they were also looking to get more into universal search.Yahoo! Yahoo / Overture had the default status as THE keyword tool for about a decade. They lost that last year when Google started opening up their data a bit more. Now Microsoft is getting into the game offering more useful tools and more data. How does Yahoo respond? They stop supporting their keyword tool. No results, no 301 redirect, no rebrand, no description of why it is broke, no anything. Since my keyword tool is powered by their keyword tool I am getting 10 to 20 emails a day. How many people are not emailing? How much more traffic is Yahoo getting than I am? Tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars of shareholder value are wasted each day with that move.

Yahoo YPN (program similar to Google AdSense) is planning to roll out major feature release this spring. This includes new features like direct deposits into the partners bank account (as of now Yahoo sends out checks through normal post), search box placement.
One of major update will be introduction of contextual match engine. Publishers have been complaining about lack of relevant ads from Yahoo YPN. Yahoo introduced category targeting but that doesn’t really address the contextual relevancy problem. As per common opinion the CTR of Yahoo YPN ads is low because of poor ads relevancy resulting into loss of revenues by publishers.

Simulating Yahoo YPN ad link units similar to AdSense ad-links
A simple trick with ad colors can be used to simulate the AdSense ad links in Yahoo YPN program. If your site has ad space fitting for adlink type ads, this can be very useful. Here is the example
YPN adlinks can be achieved by tweaking the color of ad elements, i.e. set the ad text and URL colors same as your ad background color. This way only ad URL will be visible giving look like adlinks. You can choose to show URL title or actual URL.

Yahoo YPN is just like google adsense and right now is in beta version as yahoo is testing out its services.
What is most striking factor in beta is payouts, Yahoo YPN pays upto 200% more than adsense. With smart pricing in effect google adsense earnings for most publishers must have sinked to bottom earning them next to nothing.

The current system only allows you to geographically target the location which your account is registered in, for example UK accounts can only target the UK and Ireland market. You can unblock targeted continents in your account settings, but this means that while your ad will be displayed outside of the UK it will only appear on www.yahoo.co.uk and not www.yahoo.com.
