While answering Q&A the other day it occurred to me that a lot of questions we see are basically the same question asked over and over again in different formats. In answering these questions we often end up re-using the same responses time and time again so I thought it would be a good idea to create a bit of an FAQ based off some of the most informative questions and answers which we’ve answered over the past couple of years.

International Keyword Research Tool

I took down my old Overture powered keyword tool and replaced it using Wordtracker data because:

I like Wordtracker’s data moreWordtracker’s API is much more reliable than scraping data from Overture the Overture tool seems like it has been down more often than it has been up recently

I primarily focus on the US market and did not realize how popular the international aspects of the old keyword research tool were until I started getting a rash of email complaints after taking the tool down.

Having searched hundreds of times on google.ca and google.com.ph I see some subtle differences in how the top ranked global / US results are mixed into international results.

I recently took the AdWords professional exam again and the section I failed was international search. It is easy to do that because if you are primarily focused on the US market there are parts of search you can’t appreciate until you see them. When I was in Canada about a month ago I noticed PageRank 4 pages dominating search results where you would need at least 100x the link equity to compete on Google.com. Some of the most valuable US keywords only have a couple advertisers in Canada.
